I was on my way to work this morning blasting Pandora like I usually do when Missy Elliot’s “Lose Control” came on.
I instantly started dancing in my way. Mostly just bobbing my head and waving my arms, because I just don’t care. Haha! I was trying out a new Pandora station 2000s Hip Hop. Let me tell ya, all the old cuts came on. Nelly’s “Grillz” was next, then J-Kwon’s “Tipsy.” I remember back in high school driving around playing that song like I was a boss. It was “cool” back then. Do people even say cool anymore? Ugh!
All of these songs made me start thinking about the old times and all the memories both good and bad. Do songs ever do that to you? Did you have songs that remind you of a certain someone? I do; certain songs like Ratatat, Africa or artists like the Blue Scholars always hit home. Music is a huge memory reminder. If you don’t remember the lyrics , you’ll remember the music. We all have heard “Ice, Ice Baby,” but we may not remember the entire song or verses.
I use music as a way to relieve myself from the stresses from the day. Believe me this isn’t the only reason, but it is a good one. We use music as a way to refresh ourselves, make us happy, bring back places of excitement, and remind us of past memories. But we always have to remember to Never Forget. We learn from our memories whether they involve mistakes, hardships or good times. They make us grow!!
Anywho, yesterday I had a great run outside. 8.35 miles in the beautiful sunshine, I even got a weee bit burnt. It is tan now, so don’t worry.
Not too shabby since I ran a race on Sunday!
The nice weather makes me want to run outside even more. Makes sense right? Duh! Today’s supposed to be in the high 70′s. Maybe by 5pm, my legs will want to run again. Yet again, maybe they need a rest.
Back to work I go!
The Circuit Workouts page was updated today!
Do songs remind you of the past?
